It seems to me that the following issues are worth serious consideration in class discussions this semester.

• The nature of curricular materials development and its control
• The nature of the subject matter
• Intellectual property
• Privacy of students and teachers
• Free speech on the internet
• The nature of political activity in the society
• The nature of the school experience
• The school’s audience – children, parents, community
• Roles for profit-making participants in the educational process
• The nature of human interaction & the future of human communication

There is a set of readings for the class. Please see my assistant, Linda Chisom in Nichols House, to learn how to obtain the readings.

I would like to limit the enrollment to not more than twelve students in order to allow for rich discussions.

Students who take this class will be required to write a final paper (~20 pages) and to participate actively in class discussions. Topics for the papers will be discussed in class.
