About me personally...

I was born and raised in New York City, but have lived in the Boston area since 1966 - not quite long enough to make me a "real" New Englander.

My wife Ellen to whom I was married for 35 years died in September of 1996. We enjoyed shaping our environment by building, modifying and adding to the houses we lived in. We always tried to spend as much time as we could during the summer at our place on Cape Cod enjoying the comings and goings of children, grandchildren and friends as well as the glories of dolce far niente. Ellen was a glorious woman. Her indomitable spirit remains with me. I miss her more than I can say.

On October 14, 2000 I married Joan Thormann. Joan is a lovely, warm, caring woman who probably treats me better than I deserve. She is a native Bostonian and got her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin and her doctorate from the University of Oregon. She is currently Professor of Education in the Technology in Education program at Lesley University in Cambridge. We enjoy traveling, spending time with children and grandchildren and relaxing at "The Schloss", Joan's small cottage in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. We continue to look forward with a sense of excitement and adventure to the future.

I have four children.

In the past several years – in my capacity as an early and semi-retiree - I have begun sculpting, drawing and working in stained glass. I also read a lot, walk a lot, am learning to cook well and eat less. I am addicted to doing the New York Times crossword puzzle, which I arrogantly do in pen.
