Attractions include the African Meeting House, Underground Railroad stops, and homes of distinguished black leaders of the era. For tours and more information, call the Boston African American National Historic Site at 617-725-0022.

Boston Duck Tours take place aboard a “DUCK,” an authentic, renovated World War II amphibious landing vehicle. The tour includes numerous Boston historic sites and ends dramatically with a “splashdown” into the Charles River. Tours depart daily from the Prudential Center and the Museum of Science from April-November, 9:00 A.M. to one hour before sunset. Tickets can be purchased inside the Prudential Center. For more information, call 617-267-DUCK.

Old Town Trolley Tours lead you on an historical tour of Boston and Cambridge with popular shopping and dining spots highlighted along the way. Tour at your own pace by getting on and off the trolley as many times as you like. Cambridge tours leave from Out-of-Town News in Harvard Square; Boston tours depart from the Park St. T-stop (street level, edge of the Boston Common). For further information, call 617-482-1279.

The Freedom Trail (marked by red paint on the sidewalk) runs for 2.5 miles through downtown Boston and connects sites associated with the War of Independence, including the U.S.S. Constitution, Paul Revere’s House, Quincy Market, and the Old Meeting House. Tours of Boston’s Freedom Trail leave from the Boston National Historical Park Visitor Center, corner of State and Devonshire Streets, daily on the hour, 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for children; for groups of fifteen or more, discounts are available. For more information, call 617-242-5642.

Notable Neighborhoods
Beacon Hill
A beautiful historic and residential neighborhood dating back to the 1790s, Beacon Hill is filled with charming homes and alleyways. It’s a great place to take a stroll. Meander over to Charles Street for antique shopping and quaint cafes and restaurants.

North End
Visit the Paul Revere House and Old North Church. This predominantly Italian section of Boston feels like a real neighborhood with its maze of narrow, winding streets. Enjoy a meal or an espresso and cannoli at one of the area’s 100+ restaurants.

Chinatown
Chinatown is home to a melding of Asian cultures. Chinese, Laotians, Vietnamese, and Cambodians populate this ethnic neighborhood. The area boasts many inexpensive restaurants and delicious dim sum Sunday brunch.
