Ed.M. 2004

I am currently work as an Administrative Lead for Making Waves Education Program (MWEP) in Richmond, CA. I help supervise the daily operations, instruction, tutorial and curriculum for our "6th Wave" (9th grade students). I serve as an outreach liaison linking the MWEP program to the various high schools that our students attend. In addition to working at MWEP, I tutor 4th and 5th graders at Ford Elementary, also in Richmond. At Ford, I help with 1st generation, ESL students as well as with students working below grade level, on improving their literacy, English and reading comprehension.

In the near future, I plan on obtaining my Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) credential. This credential will enable me to work as a high school counselor in the state of California. My R&P practicum, working as a counselor at South Boston High, led me to want to continue counseling youth professionally. I would encourage all R&P practicum students to take full advantage of the time and opportunities that their practicum affords. Use your experience to help you figure what you want, don't want, like and dislike when working with youth, supervisors and in the education field in general.
