ApplyingHow do I know when the Admissions Office receives my supplemental materials?Applicants may monitor the status of their application by logging into the Online Application. Once you have mailed your transcripts (and any other supporting documents), please allow two to three weeks from the time you submit your application for your account to reflect receipt of these materials. May I apply for admission to the spring semester?HGSE only offers admission starting in the fall semester. If I am a currently registered student at HGSE or an alumnus of the school interested in pursuing an additional degree, do I need to submit a new application?Currently registered Ed.D., Ed.M., or C.A.S. students at HGSE must submit a new application and all supporting documents if they are interested in pursuing an additional degree at HGSE. At the applicant's request, the Admissions Office will request from the Registration Office all transcripts (including the current HGSE transcript) and applicable test scores. Please refer to the test information section in the application instructions for current test requirements. Former Ed.D., Ed.M., or C.A.S. students at HGSE must submit a new application and all required supporting documents except for their HGSE transcript. At the applicant's request, the Admissions Office will request from the Registration Office the HGSE transcript. Nondegree HGSE students (including TAP students) must submit a new application and all supporting documents, including their HGSE transcript. Should I list HGSE as my current school or previous school? Or can I assume that the Admissions Office will know that I am or have attended HGSE?If you are or have attended HGSE, please list HGSE as one of your schools on your application. Do I need to submit a new application if I was a previous applicant?If you applied in a previous year and were not admitted or you were admitted but did not register, you must submit a new 2008-2009 application and all supporting documents. All prior application materials will have been discarded by the Admissions Office. Because some admissions requirements may have changed since you first submitted an application, please review the application instructions by logging into the Online Application. May I apply for part-time study?While you may apply for part-time study for some programs, only a limited number of students may enroll at HGSE on a part-time basis. All applicants must include a brief statement with their application indicating why they are requesting part-time study. If an admitted student's circumstances unexpectedly change post-admission, he or she may petition the Admissions Office in writing for a change in status. Do any programs require full-time enrollment?Full-time enrollment is required in the Doctoral program, the Teacher Education Master's program, and the Risk & Prevention C.A.S. program. How do I apply for year-in-advance admission?Applicants who need to arrange well in advance for a shift of professional responsibility or to develop personal funding strategies may apply for 2009-2010 admission. Applicants must submit all application materials by the 2008-2009 application deadlines and include a statement indicating why they are requesting year-in-advance admission May I apply to more than one program?HGSE does not accept more than one application per applicant per application period. You must select to apply to only one program. Do I need to have a degree/background in education to apply to HGSE?An education background or degree is not required to apply. HGSE encourages candidates with strong academic achievement, leadership potential, demonstrated commitment to education, and focused intellectual and professional interests.
