Workshops and Presentations

Harvard's resources can be overwhelming and confusing. We offer workshops on finding articles and other resources, citing them properly, and using RefWorks and EndNote to keep track of and incorporate sources into research and writing.

In addition, we work with faculty and TFs to develop course-specific presentations and research guides, small-group trainings outside of class, or whatever else seems most useful. Please contact us for more information and ideas.

Finding Articles: Education Databases (EBSCO)

ERIC, Education Abstracts, and Academic Search Premier, three important databases for HGSE students, index thousands of journal articles and documents. All are published by EBSCO, so they work the same way.

APA Exposed: Everything You Always Wanted to Know About APA But Were Afraid to Ask!

This workshop teaches the fundamentals necessary for successfully formatting research papers in APA style. One hour; workshop schedule is in MyGSE.

RefWorks Basics

Learn to use this powerful online tool to import citations, abstracts, and links to full text (when available) to your own RefWorks account, and to create your own searchable database of these references. Learn to use these citations while you write, to format them automatically, and to create bibliographies from in-text citations. One-and-a-half hours; workshop schedule is in MyGSE.

EndNote Basics

EndNote Basics training is provided in individual consultations and is appropriate for advanced doctoral students and faculty who have decided to purchase EndNote bibliographic management software. Our RefWorks Basics workshop (described above) provides an introduction to the bibliographic management tool available through Harvard Libraries' e-resources and is appropriate for all students.
