Harvard Graduate School of Education Names Business
School Leader as Dean for Administration
Business school leader Robert Fogel will assume the Deanship for Administration
at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE). Dean Ellen Condliffe
Lagemann announced the appointment, which will become effective September
4, 2003, to HGSE faculty and staff this week.
Most recently, Fogel served as President and CEO of Harvard Business
School Interactive, Inc., an executive-education program that delivers
customized management education programs utilizing technology to optimize
in-class learning. Fogel has also served as the executive director of
executive education at the Harvard Business School, which provides leadership
education to over 6,000 executive participants annually.
"Bob comes to us with a keen interest in education and extremely valuable
experience in both education and management," says Lagemann. "We are excited
about the expertise he will bring to HGSE at this time of great opportunity."
Fogel will assume duty for overseeing the School's administrative functions,
including finance, technology services, human resources, student affairs,
and library services.
Fogel has also held positions as Managing Associate at Coopers & Lybrand
Consulting and as Chief of Financial Management at the United States Coast
Guard. He continues to be active in the Coast Guard Reserve.
Fogel is a graduate of the Harvard Business School, where, among other
things, he was vice president of the student body and chairperson of the
education committee. He also holds a bachelors degree in government from
the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
