HGSE Dean Kathleen McCartney spoke today at the annual U.S. Chamber
of Commerce education and workforce summit in Dallas.
"Collaborations between business and education can and should
yield significant benefits for each partner, and for the communities
they serve," she said. "For many years, business and education
have found ways to work together; HGSE is committed to cultivating these
collaborations and to leveraging our respective resources to have a
positive impact on teaching and learning."
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce meeting, being held from Oct. 4 through
Oct. 6, joins business leaders, chamber members, and education leaders
from around the country to discuss vital education and business issues.
This year's meeting focused on the latest school reform data and
progress. Participants also debated strategies to keep American schools
competitive in a competitive global environment.
McCartney addressed the audience as part of the panel entitled "How
Businesses Leaders Can Become Effective School Leaders."
Within the exploration of school reform, participants considered topics
including high quality teachers, national education reform, public/private
partnerships, and implementation strategies.
