Collections

Gutman's collections represent and support the research of HGSE faculty and students. Primary focuses are educational administration and policy, elementary and secondary education, teachers and teaching, educational innovations, educational psychology, human development, language acquisition, and the history of education. These collections, searchable in the HOLLIS Catalog, are supplemented by those at Harvard's 80+ libraries as well as by electronic resources on the Harvard Libraries website.

Core Collection

The collection of circulating books and non-circulating periodicals totals approximately 200,000 volumes. 2nd floor.

Journals

Gutman currently subscribes to about 1,300 journals. Current issues--1st floor. Back issues --shelved by call number in the periodicals (PER) section. Non-circulating. Many available online; check HOLLIS Catalog for details. 2nd floor.

Video/Audio Tape Collection

Commercially produced video and audio tapes on topics related to education and psychology. Circulation Desk, 1st floor.

Reserve Collection

Materials faculty place on Reserve in support of specific courses. Changes each semester; check Reserves section of HOLLIS Catalog for details.

Special Collections

Gutman's extensive Special Collections richly document the history of education. Ground floor.

Reference Collection

General and subject-specific reference works, including statistics, encyclopedias, handbooks, directories, etc. Non-circulating. 1st floor.

Dissertations and Qualifying Papers

HGSE doctoral candidates' theses and pre-thesis research papers. All are cataloged in HOLLIS Catalog. Dissertations from 1997 onward are also available in Dissertations and Theses Full Text (ProQuest) (HUID and PIN required) in full text. 2nd floor.

Test Collections
